I was referred by my dentist to an endodontist, or root canal specialist due to pain, and infection and a pus leaking blister on the gum next to a back lower molar. I had my first appointment, a consultation just after Christmas. The tooth wasn't broken and he agreed to go ahead with redoing the root canal, the previous one from my old dentist had clearly failed. Once he had done his stuff, my dentist would put a crown on it.
So I had the first treatment yesterday. Apart from the injections which I always hate in my mouth, it was totally pain free, so much so that I kept falling asleep and closing my mouth. He had to put a brace in to keep it open. LOL!
After about an hour of microsopes, filing and drilling, he finished and re-applied a temporary filling. He said he had cleaned out 2 roots and next time he'd do the other two. Fine by me ,although the surgery is out near Watford, so it's a bit far.
I could have had a long weekend in New York for what just this visit cost, but I want to keep my teeth.
